Lucky student wins a full Beston College scholarship

The gods smiled at Isaac Safanana as news reached him that he has won a full scholarship to study a diploma in journalism at one of Malawi's established training institution, Beston College.

Safanana, won the K500 000 worth scholarship after he outclassed participants in a 15 minutes Beston College program which is aired on Dziko Radio by answering questions.

The scholarship includes boarding and tuition fees, learning materials and examinations fees and it will run from January to June this year.

Beston College Managing Director Rev Dr Aaron Beston said the idea of coming up with a scholarship was aimed at appreciating the confidence the general public has had towards the institution.

"Since we opened up our doors, we have seen growth, success and God's grace from a project that started so small. As one way of showing our appreciation, we needed to go back to same community which has contributed greatly to our growth.

"The community had trusted us so much and this is the only way we can say thank you," he said with an assurance that the scholarship will be awarded to a student every semester.

Commenting on the development, Safanana looked at the scholarship as God's intervention to fulfill his dream.

"I look at it as a very good opportunity to study something I have been dreaming of. This is a prize I don't take for granted and I will make sure to perform from best of my ability," he said.
Beston College opened its doors in 1998 and offers different courses.

It boosts of producing over 5000 graduates in public health, engineering, accounting and journalism among its many courses which are working both in government and private institutions.
The college has compuses in Lilongwe, Blantyre and Mangochi districts.
