PP thugs attack Mutharika's aide, critically ill at Mwaiwathu Hospital

Some people deemed to be Peoples Party (PP) agents on Monday night
attacked Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) president's Peter
Mutharika's personal Assistant Ben Phiri and dumped him at Kamba in
Blantyre City.

DPP Director of Elections Kondwani Namkhumwa confirmed the development
to Nyasa Times.

"Phiri was at Mount Soche Hotel with Hon Nicholas Dausi where they
were preparing the party's press statement. From nowhere, a group of
PP agents led by Lemani Chapitapita came into the business center and
beat up Hon Dausi before they lifted Phiri and sped away with him.

"After beating him up, they dumped him at Kudya and thanks to well
wishers who discovered him and took him to Mwaiwathu Hospital. He is
in critical condition and admitted there," he said.

According to Nankhumwa, the issue has already been reported to
Blantyre Police where a Dausi's statement has already been taken.

In an interview with Nyasa Times, PP Secretary General said its very
unfortunate that Phiri has been beaten up.

"If it is true then its too bad, I as an SG I condone any kind of
violence, I couldn't be part and parcel of this," he said.
